Dr Elize Wethmar is a gynaecological oncologist at Life The Glynnwood, Benoni, Gauteng. She specialises in the treatment of gynaecological cancers.
Dr Wethmar studied medicine at the University of Pretoria. She then completed 2 years internship in Bela Bela and later completed 1 year of community service, where she found her love for caring for women in South Africa.
After spending 18 months in emergency medicine she decided to pursue her dream in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
This led her to her super speciality in gynaecological oncology.
Her additional qualifications include minimally invasive surgery, Fmas & Dmas achieved in India.
In the middle of all her studying, she completed an MPhil in Practical Theology with a specialization in medical ethics as she felt she just needed an extra challenge in life.
Dr Wethmar is the founder and head surgeon of the East Rand multi-speciality Oncology Board or ERMSOB as it is more commonly known. This is a team of specialists who work together to give patients the best surgical and oncological treatment plan when diagnosed with cancer.
She is currently completing 2 research projects:
- Involving cancer in pregnancy research called Pram SA
- The role of Multi-Disciplinary Boards in SA
Dr Wethmar is currently in private practice at The Glynnwood Life Healthcare Hospital in Benoni
